Literature Of English PAPER-I Detailed study of a Literary age (19th Cent) The paper will cover the study of English Literature from 1798 to 1900 with special reference to the works of Wordsworth, Coleridge, Keats, Shelley, Tennyson, Browning and Arnold, Dickens, GeorgeEliot, Thomas Hardy, Lamb, Hazlitt, Carlyle, Ruskin, Pater. Candidates will be expected to show first hand knowledge of the works of the above authors. They Will also be expected to be acquainted with The main Literary trends of the period as well as the social and cultural background of the age.
