1. Physical Geography :

(i) Lithosphere: Rocks and their types. Agents of erosion. Works ofrunning water, glacier and winds Volcanoes and their distribution in the world.Normal cycle of erosion, land forms-Mountain, Plateau, Plain.

(ii) Atmosphere: Composition of Atmosphere : Insolation, Temperature,Pressure, winds and wind system, Rainfall, its types and world distribution,climatic types, cyclons, Anti-cyclons, Thunder storms.

(iii) Hydrosphere: Land and water distribution on the Globe.Oceanic Temperature : salinity and its distribution, Tides, Oceanic Currents,Coral reef, bottom Relief of Oceans, Man and the Ocean.

2.Human Geography :(i) Definition of HumanGeography; Scope and subject matter of Human Geography, Habitat, social andeconomic life of the people of following regions- Equatorial regions, TropicalDeserts, Tundra. Indian tribes with special reference to Madhya Pradesh.

(ii) Population: Growth of population, Density of population.Distribution of population and its pattern in the world. Population problems,population problems in India.

(iii) Settlements: Major cities of the world,

3. Economic Geography :

(i) General: Definition of Economic Geography. Scope and subject matterof Economic Geography.

(ii) Agriculture: Food crops and their world distribution-rice, wheatand corn. Commercial crops-cotton, jute, sugarcane, plantation crops - tea,coffee, rubber, fishing, forestry.

(iii) Minerals and their world distribution: Iron ore mica, manganese,gold, silver, tin, copper, power resources-coal, petroleum, hydroelectricity.

(iv) Industries: Iron & Steel, Textile (cotton, woolen, silk) andpaper, factors of localization of these industries and their worlddistribution.

(v) Transport &Communication Land,sea and air routes of the world, their significance. International Railways.

4. Cartography :

(i) Scales:- Simple, diagonal and time scales.

(ii) North:- True, magnetic and grid north and their importance. .

(iii) Contours & Conventional signs:- Showing various land featuresby contours with their cross sections. Recognition of conventional Signs.

(iv) Weather instruments:- Weather symbols, use of weather instruments-thermometer-dry & wet & bulb thermometer. Maximum minimum thermometers,fortine’s barometer, aneroid barometers, rainguage.

(v) Uses of map projections.

(vi) Use of survey instruments: Chain and tape, plane table. Prismaticcompass.

5. Concept of determinism and possibilism.

4. Chief Races of the world and their areas.

5. Natural regions of the world

Geographical description of the various natural regions of the world

6. Major regions of the world

Western Europe, S E Asia, S W Asia, Latin America

Africa. Australia.

Geography of India with special reference to Madhya pradesh

1. Location. Physical Features, climate. Natural vegetation, Soils,Origin of Himalayas.

2. Agriculture, Method of irrigation. Crops and forestry.

3. Minerals and Power resources.

4. Industries - Cottage Industries. Localization of important industriesand factors of their localization.

5. Population and population problems of India,Food and population. Tribes, & Tribal zones.

6. Important cities and ports.
